Richard Leon Maglothin, 85, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, at his home. Born in Trumann, Arkansas to George and Carrie Maglothin, he joined the Navy in 1955 and retired in 1977 with an honorable discharge as an SCPO Air Traffic Control. He married his wife in 1959 Mrs. Nellie Lou O’Brien Maglothin. They eventually settled in Millington in 1974. He worked at State Tech/San Diego Community College from 1980 to 1987 as a radar instructor. Hobbies included spending time with his family, working in his yard, fishing, hunting, and gambling.
He was preceded in death by his parents George A. and Carrie Pate Maglothin, his wife of 47 years Nellie Lou Maglothin, and his siblings; Georgia Maglothin Harris, Cecil Maglothin, Ruth Maglothin Harding, Joe Maglothin, Irene Maglothin Adams, James Maglothin, and Ezra Earl Maglothin.
Survivors include his children; Richard Leon Maglothin II, Neil Maglothin Jones, and Brian Andrew “Andy” Maglothin, grandchildren; Melanie Leigh Smith, Ryan Andrew Smith, Chelsea Jones Ball, Amanda Ruffin Maglothin, Sarah Ann Maglothin McDaniel, Steven Andrew Maglothin, Brandon Wayne Maglothin, and great-grandchildren, Maddox Ball, and Bennet Smith.
